Oh change, cruel change. Just as a fickle love can be, change is a maker of despair.
How attached we become in our ways. If only things would remain as they are. How entrenched we are in our comfort zone.
Even in our pain and suffering we can be resistant to change. Of course our current success can also make us resist change. If only the world would let us rest on our laurels.
Resistance to change is a major impetus to destructive government intervention in the economy. Established interests seek the government s apparatus of compulsion and coercion to keep things as they are or to move things in a different unnatural direction. Why be at the mercy of the changing whims of the consumers.
What is ironic is the fact that since we are all consumers we wear two different masks. One mask is resistant to change if it threatens our vested interests. The other is clamoring for more new products and services. As can be seen this behavior is neurotic and irrationally selfish.
However, since change is one of the a priori principles of human action it s the essence of life. Non change is decay and death. The very concept of non change is unthinkable.
Look at your life. Everything you are or have is the result of change. You certainly can t physically remain a baby, child or adolescent. Lack of change is stagnation and violates the laws of nature.
You have a choice. You can allow change to be your maker of despair. You can stagnate in misery and denial or you can embrace change and be one of those rare individuals who anticipates it and acts accordingly.
Maker of the pleasures and ecstasies of life
Ah, without change there wouldn t be your next exciting lovemaking experience, hearing your favorite song again, watching your favorite football team play the next game, enjoying dinner with your family, anticipating another exciting event happening in your life, etc. In fact there wouldn t be life.
Fear and the lack of self confidence to handle the vicissitudes of life cause most people to dread change. It s so easy to remain in your comfort zone. A famous cliché is Don t rock the boat.
A person living The Libertarian Way learns to use certain techniques to help him benefit from change. Here are 3 that you can begin using right now.
1. Write down all of your fantasies and desires. Eliminate any guilt you experience and especially don t worry about what others may think. You are going for the gusto. Enjoy thinking about these pleasures then make some plans to achieve them.
2. Begin a daily meditation program. Meditate on your fantasies and desires. See yourself as achieving them. Utilize all of your 5 senses during your visualization. If some of your fantasies are sexual you ll probably become aroused.
3. Make a plan to achieve your fantasies, goals and desires and take concerted action. Action gets things done.
Now don t tell me you don t have time to do these pleasurable exercises. If change is currently a maker of despair you have nothing to lose except maybe your emotional pain and suffering. I meditate over an hour per day. I take action. I guarantee that my life is filled with pleasure and ecstasy. I enjoy all of my activities.
Eventually you will discover that change is the maker of all the pleasure and ecstasy you deserve. You ll be thinking I wish I had realized this earlier. Anyway, all that matters is now. Start living the life you deserve. Begin living The Libertarian Way today.
